The Hunting Wives Season 1: Your New Friends Might Kill You (And That's Fine)

Anytime rich women are behaving badly we are hoping for a girl fight and popcorn to watch it play out. This week we are getting into all the details of The Hunting Wives Season 1. It's eight episodes of lies, betrayal, sex, and drama on Netflix. If you've ever wondered what happens when PTA moms shoot guns and maybe make out then you'll definitely want to watch the show.

 What is the show about?

Imagine moving to a new town and trying to make new friends. You go to your husband's work party and your anxiety is in hyperdrive. When you go to the bathroom you run into the boss's wife who happens to have her dress down and you get a full view of her. Then she shares a Xanax with you. What would make you become her friend instead of running the other way? Sophie decided having friends was worth ignoring every red flag. And she quickly finds herself partying with a group of women she doesn't know well.  Not only did she run towards Margo and her friends, she let them talk her into buying a rifle and a handgun. After a drunken night, she finds out a young woman is murdered and Sophie becomes suspect number one.  You can see why sometimes trusting your new friends isn't the smartest choice.

On top of all the drama there are some amazing actors. We found that even if Dermot Mulroney plays a sleazy Texan we still want to see more of him.  He proves charisma can cover up anything, especially a hopeful political career.  Another gem was Chrissy Metz who may have had a small part, but we loved every minute she was onscreen. Starr really added some realism to the town where everyone but her was rich.

Who should watch it?

  • Chrissy Metz and Dermot Mulroney fans

  • If you like rich women behaving badly

  • If you love a nighttime soap

  • If you like real housewives and hope for girl fights

  • If you like a little spice in your life

Who should not?

  • If you hate wigs

  • If you don’t want to see boobs in the first 10 minutes of a show

  • If you want a friend that doesn’t sleep with your 18 year old son

  • If you don’t want to see a man’s dingdong

Podcast Episode

In this episode, we discuss what worked, what changed, and why we still want to see season two. Michelle added extra butter on her popcorn buckets rating, because it's a fun kind of messy that you can binge, and honestly, we're all wishing Season 2 was already out, even Katya. The show takes major liberties with May Cobb's book, but sometimes a loose adaptation is exactly what trashy TV needs.
