The Hunting Wives: When Your New Friends Are Rich, Bored, and Possibly Murderers

What happens when your new friend group includes guns, affairs with teenage sons, and eventually a body? May Cobb’s The Hunting Wives takes toxic friendship to the dangerous places and we’re here to unpack whether it works or crashes and burns.

What is the book about?

Sophie and her husband Graham moved to East Texas to escape Chicago. Big mistake! Sophie immediately had too much time on her hands: no job, one friend, and way too many hours spent Instagram-stalking Margot Banks. Margot is everything Sohpie wants to be: gorgeous, confident, the kind of woman who throws legendary parties and runs the social scene with a smile and a “bless your heart.”

When Margot notices Sophie and pulls her into the exclusive circle of “the hunting wives,” it feels like winning the lottery. These wealthy, restless women had too much time, too many secrets, and an alarming comfort level with firearms. But new friends come with new rules Sophie doesn’t understand. And when someone ends up dead, she has to figure out fast: are her new friends worth protecting, or did she just get pulled into something deadly?
